Dan Wilson: Vocals

I first started listening to Metal and Hardcore music when I was 13 years of age, I was introduced to it by our (now) guitarist, George Meakin. Since then, I’ve never stopped listening to it; it’s taken over my life.

From a young age I had been incredibly interested in singing and performing. In my first years at school I had entered the same singing competition four times and on my fourth entrance, I won it. So when I started to look into how to scream and getting into a band, it seemed very natural to me to pursue the idea further.   I first grasped the concept of how to scream in May of 2011 – from then on I have been in several Metalcore bands where I have always been the Vocalist, the only issue being that the line-up was never stable, until now.

Vocally, my two biggest influences are: Jeremy McKinnon (A Day To Remember) and Winston McCall (Parkway  Drive); when I first heard the raw emotion in their vocals, I was instantly inspired to try it myself and after several months of practicing screaming along to their songs, they allowed me to find my own unique screaming style and technique. As for my technique I mainly use the Power Fry – not only for live performances but also for studio recording as well.

I, as well as the other members of the band have been in other musical projects and bands prior to the formation of Their Souls For Gold. However, I have never felt as confident in other bands as I do in this one. I really feel that Their Souls For Gold not only have the potential, but also the determination and perseverance to achieve.
