George Meakin: Guitar

I’ve been playing guitar for about 6 years now and being a musician is what I’ve wanted to do since learning guitar. Ever since I knew about Warped Tour, my primary goal in life was to play every single date on the tour, and unlike many other, previously failed musical projects I’ve been in – Their Souls for Gold has the potential to fulfill that dream.

I first started listening to genres such as Metalcore and Post-Hardcore about 4 years ago, with the first band I listened to being It Dies Today. It’s scary to think that one band could have such a huge impact on my life – as I probably wouldn’t be as I am today without their influence. Other influences of mine include JB Brubaker (August Burns Red), Jeremy DePoyster (The Devil Wears Prada), Luke Kilpatrick (Parkway Drive) and a few others. This is because of the sheer amount of talent they all have, and their love for what they do – which is inspiring as I hope to be as successful as these guys through my love for music. I’m currently using an Ibanez SA 260FM which I absolutely love playing.

We’ve all been in many other projects before, all of which have failed. Myself and Dan used to be in another band together where we formed a sort of ‘agreement’ to stick with each other in future musical ventures – which was probably one of the wiser choices in my life, as Their Souls For Gold may not have formed otherwise.  I still remember back to our first proper practice as a band, from which I could immediately tell it was going to be a lot different from previous bands – and now here we are today, as a group of musicians, but more importantly friends. Without the friendship we all have, its hard to say we would have made it this far. Thank you TSFG.
